Antique Cupboard Restoration: Saving Its Original Character | Part 2 of 2

Saving its original character is the goal as Marc and Lucien complete this antique cupboard restoration. In Part 2, the 19th-century Scandinavian pine cupboard receives the remaining repairs, carefully matched paint touch-ups and a working key for its old lock.

Follow the removal of enormous protruding nails, repairs to the frame and splits, and work on the shelf supports and door. We explain the paint colours and weathering powders used to blend the repairs with the aged finish, before refitting and testing the lock and replacement key.

The final reveal keeps the cupboard's rustic Swedish character, worn paint and signs of age, with the doors working and the repairs complete. This is sympathetic furniture repair and finish touch-up work, preserving what makes the piece special.
