Market descriptions use relationship words to separate date and authorship from visual influence. Understanding them prevents a style name from being mistaken for proof of age.

“Period” normally claims production within the named historical era. “Style of” or “in the manner of” describes resemblance. “Revival” identifies a later return to an earlier vocabulary.

Before you commit

Ask the seller exactly what date is asserted and what evidence supports it. Read the complete description, not just the headline.

Keep the record

Keep the wording on the invoice; later paraphrasing can accidentally strengthen a cautious attribution.
